Too many focus on the "bad", forgetting that their very focus on it will make them find more things like it. The opposite is also true, focusing on the "good" will draw forth more like it. That which is like unto itself, comes forth.
"Whoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them."
In revolting against the unwanted, they kept the focus on it, and drew for themselves more like it. The universe doesn't distinguish between "yes" and "no", only "focus" and "non-focus". Thus, if you "don't want", you really do... Because you're observing it...
